Since their debut in 1963 the Irish Rovers have continued to impress, garnering a reputation for delivering timeless and exciting performances.

The Canadian band made their big splash at the famous folk club - "The Purple Onion" - in San Francisco, where they ended up headlining for 22 sold-out weeks. Their successes caught the attention of Decca Records, who offered a recording contract to the group.

The Irish Rovers released their first album in 1966, entitled "The First Of The Irish Rovers". Remarkable reception by the audience prompted the release of another album. From this album "The Unicorn" became the band's most well-known and popular song, and remains to be their signature tune to this day.

During the 1970s the Rovers starred in a weekly series on the CBC network, and later a series on the Global Network. In the early 1980s the Rovers followed up with another successful hit song, "Wasn't That a Party". The song was written by their friend, U.S. folk sing Tom Paxton after he had witnessed one the band’s famous shows. Not far behind was the song "Grandma Got Run-Over By A Reindeer", which has become a Christmas classic.

Today the Irish Rovers continue to perform around the world, with original members George Millar, Joe Millar, and Wilcil McDowell. Will Millar retired from the band in 1995, followed by the passing away of Jimmy Ferguson in 1997. Completing the Irish Rover line-up today is Kevin McKeown, who has been with the band since 1984, and John Reynolds and Wallace Hood, who both joined in 1995. Sean O'Driscoll accompanies the band on many of their tours, and plays on new Rover recordings.
